Too lazy yet again to write up anything long, but here's something for all of you. Back in the days when I was young and innocent, far back in the mists of time, I had a favorite animal. It was the (I realize now bottlenose) dolphin. It's been thought for a while now that dolphins were among the smarter animals out there, but I was still pretty amazed by the things written in the article that they could pull off. Delaying gratification and self-awareness are just the beginning.

Have you read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Humans, despite how much they trick themselves into thinking that they are, are not really the most intelligent life on the planet. They are actually 3rd, behind dolphins at number 2, and mice at number 1 (who have been tricking us into thinking that we were doing experiements on them, when really they were doing experiments on us).

But, I do remember reading on BBC a year or two ago about the dolphins making tools of rocks and coral for digging, which I thought was pretty awesome.

I just use this article as proof that I had a kickass favorite animal.

When I was about 4 or 5 years old, the family took a trip to Sea World and I got the chance to pet a dolphin. Up close, a dolphin was the most terrifying thing I'd ever seen. Enough so that I started crying, wet myself, and had to be taken back to the hotel for the rest of the day. It is perhaps the single most embarassing moment of my life, and I'll keep it a secret until the day I die.**

I still like dolphins for some reason, maybe because they are clearly evil, and have everyone fooled.

**Step 1 to keeping a secret: Post about it on the Internet.

Quite a good job there you've done of keeping that a secret. If your parents know what they're doing, they will also tell anyone that comes over that story. I bet they think it's hilarious.

Dolphins aren't evil, but sometimes I think they're laughing at us.
